Our client has been operating in Malaysia for over 25 years delivering some of the most advanced manufacturing plants and facilities. As a leader in the engineering and construction of high-tech facilities, our client offers a complete range of services from consulting to the managing of turnkey solutions, delivering to the highest quality and safety standards. In addition, they have a dedicated in-house capability for mechanical, electrical, and process engineering works including general fabrication, installation, and maintenance - to serve work packages on projects for other clients. They are currently looking for a Procurement Director to join them on a project in Singapore.
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Develop and lead the organisation's procurement strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, project delivery requirements, and long-term commercial goals.
- Provide strategic leadership to the procurement team, driving high performance, mentoring senior procurement professionals, and promoting best practice across all projects.
- Oversee procurement activities across multiple projects, ensuring procurement strategies, contract awards, and supply chain performance support programme, budget, and client requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, subcontractors, and strategic partners, negotiating framework agreements and securing long-term value for the business.
- Lead the development of robust supply chain strategies, proactively identifying and mitigating procurement risks, including material availability, market fluctuations, and long lead-time items.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, commercial, design, and operations teams to support business growth, bid strategy, value engineering initiatives, and major project pursuits.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company governance, contractual obligations, legal requirements, and ESG, ethical sourcing, and sustainability objectives.
- Monitor procurement performance through KPIs, reporting, and market analysis, driving continuous improvement, innovation, and cost efficiencies across the procurement function.
You will need:
- A degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Quantity Surveying, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 12–15 years' experience in procurement and supply chain management within the construction industry, including significant experience in a senior leadership or director-level role.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing procurement strategies, leading high-performing teams, and managing strategic supplier relationships across multiple large-scale construction projects.
- Strong commercial acumen with extensive experience in contract negotiation, risk management, value engineering, and supply chain optimisation.
- Membership of a recognised professional body such as CIPS (or equivalent) would be advantageous.
- Residency or the Right to Work in Singapore.
