Description
Our client is a leading multinational engineering services provider and general contractor who specializes in mission critical turnkey solutions. Employing over 750 professionals and deliver leading-edge construction solutions across a range of key sectors including Data Centre’s, Healthcare, Life Sciences and Technology, Fire protection, Building Services, and Technical Support Services. They are currently looking for Senior Planners to join them on construction projects in Birmingham & Derbyshire, UK.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Lead all project planning activities in accordance with company Planning SOPs, ensuring the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust project programmes from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
- Develop, manage, and monitor integrated project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with project objectives, contractual requirements, and stakeholder expectations.
- Provide strategic planning support to Project Directors and senior management, delivering programme analysis, critical path reviews, earned value reporting, and recovery strategies where required.
- Monitor project progress through regular site visits, programme audits, and productivity assessments, ensuring accurate reporting and timely identification of risks, delays, and opportunities.
- Lead planning meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams, providing clear programme updates and coordinating mitigation measures to maintain project milestones.
- Prepare and review tender programmes, resource-loaded schedules, cash flow forecasts, and construction methodologies to support successful bid submissions and project delivery.
- Assess the programme impact of variations, delays, and change events, supporting the commercial team with Extension of Time (EOT) submissions, claims, and contractual reporting.
- Mentor and support Project Planners and junior planning staff, promoting best practice, consistency, and continuous improvement within the planning function.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and integrity of all planning deliverables, reports, and progress databases, escalating key programme issues and recommending practical solutions.
- Provide planning support across multiple projects where required, including covering planning responsibilities during periods of resource demand or business need.
You will need:
- Minimum 8 years' experience in a planning role, including significant experience as a Senior Planner or Lead Planner on large-scale construction projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel, with experience in resource loading, earned value management, and programme analysis.
- Strong understanding of construction planning, contractual programme requirements, delay analysis, and Extension of Time (EOT) processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to mentor planning teams and influence project delivery at all levels.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
